Winter Holiday Party

Thank you all for coming to the party today! You did a wonderful job of remembering to bring snacks, and you also did a wonderful job decorating. Please follow these few rules in addition to my normal rules:

Put backpacks out of the way

  • No Popping Balloons or other Loud Noises (there are other classes that need it to be fairly quiet)
  • No tablets (we are here to have a social party)
  • No jumping or moving around quickly
  • Don't take more food than you can eat, and don't touch food that you won't eat.

Health Final

Think about the Health. Think about many of the words you learned about health. Write a paragraph about "What does being Healthy mean?" Use as many of the words as you can in your paragraph.

Good luck!

Welcome Back from Thanksgiving Break!

I hope you all had a great time! I traveled 6 1/2 hours to Chico with my kids and the worms! The kids are fine, but the worms are great! I monitored their temperature and moisture, and kept them within the perfect limits. The worm castings smell nice and earthy, and I know they will make excellent soil for our Growing Food projects.

You have a lot of important work to do this week:

  • Move and organize wood
  • put in screws to planter box, remove bolts
  • plant lettuce
  • Get the bicycle parts we need from Main Street Bikes
  • organize the bike tools and parts
  • Begin working on the 4 new bikes we got from the Sea Train
  • organize the brown and green waste containers, and prepare the food
  • get videos from student computers
  • fix printer- youtube search "hp 2400 won't print"
  • teach students how to digitize documents
  • update calendar on front board- Any Announcements?
  • BLOG Post: What I did for Thanksgiving Break- EDITING.
  • DAILY QUIZ- 10:35

November 10, 2015

Hello again!

What an interesting week we will have! Yertsa and Cam are back, we have worms coming soon, the bike wheels will be here on Thursday, the lettuce is growing, we have money work to do, and we have no school tomorrow!

Today we will be exploring video techniques as we go through our day. Let's start here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_2mjkCj57A&list=PLyBsBRlgNbLsr_v-M2OA2Db-PXSuVqvLY

Some people started experimenting with sounds, and we learned a few things. First, there are many apps that have sound effects, if you have an iphone, you can search sound effects in the app store. After you turn in your homework, you can work on the sound effects videos.

Keeping a clean environment

It may not seem like a big deal, but it makes a bad impression when you leave your workstation in a messy state. Get in the good habit of cleaning up after yourself.
Let's have no more of this.

Teacher Feature

This week, we are going to examine WHO we know here at school with a Mind Map. I showed you a quick Mind Map video of mine last week, but I didn't give you very clear directions. That was my bad. Let me try again. This week, we are going to make a Teacher Mind Map. I call it...
THE TEACHER FEATURE.
The key is: What is memorable about this teacher? Is it what they look like? Is it what they drive? Is it where their classroom is? Is it what subject they teach? What is it that makes the teacher unique in your eyes?
We'll start like this...

Step 1: Put your name in the bubble in the middle
Step 2: Draw a short line to another bubble. Put a teacher's name in that bubble.
Step 3: From the teacher's name bubble, draw another short line to another bubble, and write a word or two that tells what makes that teacher unique. That's how it works!

When you are finished, take a picture of your Mind Map, and post it to your blog.
